Ahead of HS2's main construction programme, enabling work packages to prepare the route will commence. These include site clearance and preparation, erection of safety fencing and mitigation activities. The Laing O'Rourke/ Murphy joint venture team was awarded the Enabling Works Contract North (EWC N)for the northern section of HS2 Phase 1. Working collaboratively with the project team, we are providing a professional and dynamic service, using our considerable experience in planning, design, liaison with key stakeholder and local communities, and the utilisation of the latest construction methodology in order to deliver efficient and safe delivery of planned works.
Activity on worksites is important, but only part of the story. Long before the workforce and machinery start work to prepare the route, detailed planning and consultation are vital with all affected parties in order to ensure important details such as vehicle numbers and access routes, workforce numbers, hours of work, acceptable noise and dust parameters, and other important details, have been considered, planned for and if necessary, mitigated.
Acknowledging our responsibilities in protecting the world around us, our ecology and archaeology advisors are already working with stakeholders to ensure that studies and measurements are made and appropriate action taken.
We're aiming wherever possible to minimise time on site and disruption to local communities. We’re also working with educational advisors to support the engagement of schools and colleges, with the aim of increasing interest in science and engineering topics as the project develops.
Suppliers are encouraged to contact us to support these areas – if you feel you have a service that may be of interest, we’d like to hear from you. Click here to get in touch with us via the CompeteFor portal.
